Compare app proposals by journeys, integrations and operating responsibilities.
Count journeys, not screens
A booking screen may hide availability rules, cancellations, payments and staff tools. Two apps with similar screen counts can require very different work. Describe the completed task, connected systems and failure states. Visual references help with design direction, but they are not enough to establish a responsible engineering estimate.
Specify platform needs
Camera processing, offline work and background activity may affect the architecture. Define supported platforms and realistic device expectations. Shared code can reduce duplication without removing platform testing or store preparation. Ask suppliers to state assumptions so a lower estimate is not simply excluding work another proposal includes.
Include the operational product
Most apps also need APIs, hosting, administrative tools and account recovery. Data migration can be substantial. Put those requirements in the brief before estimating. Clarify third-party charges and account ownership. The mobile interface is the visible product, but the systems behind it determine much of the effort and ongoing responsibility.

Compare lifetime commitments
Review maintenance, documentation and handover alongside the build price. Ask how changes are scoped and what happens when a dependency changes. A useful proposal makes exclusions visible. Discovery may be the sensible first investment when important technical or product assumptions cannot yet support a firm estimate.
